Born To Do This
Hello, I’m Jennifer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’ve dedicated my life to helping others, and I love working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are ready to understand what is keeping them stuck and create meaningful change. For more than 30 years, I have helped people navigate emotional pain, understand themselves more deeply, and move toward healthier, more fulfilling lives. My journey into psychotherapy began when I was 13. I was fortunate that, even then, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. At that young age, I realized my natural compassion in listening, providing support, and wanting my friends to be happy and healthy. I was born to do this.
The passion to help others stayed strong. Through years of education, specialized training, supervision, and clinical experience, I developed it into a career and private practice that I remain deeply passionate about. This prepared me to deeply understand a person’s pain, quickly develop solutions together, and enable healing. I’m your trusted partner with the goal of helping you understand your emotional anguish, trauma related pain, and the frustrations of feeling held back.
I help clients recognize patterns that may contribute to anxiety, depression, trauma-related distress, relationship and family difficulties, self-harm, and challenges during major life transitions. Together, we look beyond the immediate symptoms to understand what is underneath them, strengthen identity and self-worth, and get to the root of things. My particular specialty is treating eating disorders. Nobody should have to suffer alone with an eating disorder.
That heartfelt belief has led me to devote much of my career to understanding and treating eating disorders. Years of clinical work, specialized study, and continued training led me to develop the STEDI™ program. STEDI™ provides the framework and philosophy I use to understand each person as an individual and guide treatment that addresses not only eating disorder symptoms, but also the emotional experiences and patterns beneath them.
My approach is trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and integrative. I want to understand not only what you are struggling with now, but also how past experiences, relationships, beliefs, and protective patterns may still be shaping your life. My goal for you is to thrive, instead of just survive, and reach your greatest potential. This is what you can expect when working with me.
When I’m not helping others, I’m happiest doing the quiet things that help me slow down, stay grounded, and enjoy the world around me. Some of my favorite activities are mindful meditation, journaling, sipping tea while watching the birds at the feeder, feeling the sun on my face while making a gratitude list, and getting lost in a good book.
I’m deeply grateful for the support of my family, friends, and colleagues, which has allowed me to live out my dream of creating a unique place for healing. You can learn more about that journey and the story behind Sirona Therapy on my About page.
